Week 6’s top five games

No. 14 Mount Carmel (3-2) at No. 3 Brother Rice (5-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Brother Rice has been unstoppable this season and has shown the ability to change a game in moments. With a quick strike offense headed up by quarterback Dino Borelli, Illinois recruit Ricky Smalling, and Aarian Lacy. Mount Carmel is coming off a last second field goal loss to St. Rita, and needs two wins in the final four games to clinch a playoff berth.

No. 4 Neuqua Valley (5-0) at No. 11 Naperville North (5-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

The big question for the DuPage Valley is always who will stand out? This season, it’s undefeated Neuqua Valley and Naperville North. One will move into a clear lead in first place after Friday’s matchup. Naperville North’s staunch defense has been headed up by defensive back Grant Erickson who has recorded four interceptions in the last two games. Neuqua Valley is headlined by Notre Dame recruit Isaiah Roberston and Navy recruit Owen Piche.

No. 9 Glenbard West (4-1) at No. 16 Hinsdale Central (5-0), Saturday, noon

No. 5 Lyons snapped No. 9 Glenbard West’s 32-game conference win streak last week and the Hilltoppwers will be looking to rebound against fellow West Suburban Silver opponent Hinsdale Central. The Red Devils had averaged more than 30 points a game, but Glenbard West is their first ranked opponent of the season. This game is an opportunity for each team to make a much-needed conference statement.

No. 8 Marist (4-1) vs. St. Patrick (4-1) at Hanson, Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Marist is charging through on a four game win-streak since losing the season opener to No. 3 Brother Rice. The RedHawks will get a strong test from St. Patrick on Saturday. Marist’s senior class is highly-talented, with linebacker Micah Awidoran (Yale), defensive back Robert Topps (Kansas) and offensive lineman Bill Kudak (Kansas State). St. Patrick picked up its first loss of the season in last week against Notre Dame, and is looking to rebound against an East Suburban Catholic foe.

Oswego (5-0) at No. 18 Oswego East (5-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Two undefeated teams match up at Oswego East in a rivalry game that will determine who takes the lead in the Southwest Prairie. Ivory Kelly-Martin, who transferred from Nazareth to Oswego East, has been explosive all season and scored two touchdowns in a 21-14 victory over Plainfield North last week. Oswego’s offense will be tested by the Wolves. The Panthers will look for a repeat of the high-powered productivity in last week’s 42-22 win over Romeoville.
