Decent game tonight in Lombard. Glenbard East knocked off West Chicago rather easily. I was there to see West Chicago’s Mike and Tai Bibbs play. Neither one had good games. Sometimes that happens.

ABC7 is reporting that Proviso East has rehired Donnie Boyce. I’ve been hearing it was about to happen this week but never received any confirmation. Really weird situation. Changing coaches in mid-February is just so odd, regardless of anyone’s opinion on the Boyce situation. And guess what…the Pirates lost tonight.

Tonight’s top games

Hinsdale South 59, No. 16 Proviso East 50: Had a reader ask on Twitter tonight about Barret Benson, wondering if he had received enough attention this season. Probably not, and that’s because the Hornets just haven’t been winning big games. Well, they just one a huge one.

Stevenson 52, Lake Zurich 40: Not the best sign for the Bears right now. They handled Stevenson earlier in the season and that was in Lincolnshire.

No. 14 Homewood-Flossmoor 57, Bolingbrook 45: Jeffery Boyd had 20 points to lead the Vikings. The Raiders have become a dangerous team though, this one was closer than the final score appeared. Coach Rob Brost has a young team and they’ve improved as the season has advanced.

Lincoln-Way East 63, Joliet West 59: Huge upset. The Griffins are now 6-15. Sam Shafer had 18 points to lead the way. Total crisis time in Joliet. Or at least it is to me.

Reed-Custer 87, Peotone 73: Thought about taking this one in tonight. Hearing R-C used a 31 point quarter to pull away. Had no idea this would be so high scoring.

St. Charles North 53, Jacobs 46: Another upset.

Stagg 63, Joliet Central 43: This one isn’t an upset. The Chargers also won earlier in the year in Joliet. But the margin is a surprise. Stagg should be one of the better teams in the area next year (loaded with juniors) but I wouldn’t want to face them in the playoffs this season. John Contant had 22.

Thornridge 58, Lincoln-Way Central 54: Another upset. The Knights seemed to have a decent shot at a very high sectional seed. This will hurt. The Falcons have been dangerous all season, they have some promising younger players.
