Carmel rising senior tight end Noah Turner made big strides on the recruiting trail after the season ended. The 6-3, 240-pound prospect added offers from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Maryland, Indiana and many more.

In the end it was North Carolina that won Turner’s commitment.

“I am so excited and very relieved,” Turner said.

Turner had a chance to visit Chapel Hill in April and is slated to go back in the next month.

“Coach Seth Littrell and how he’s going to utilize me was how I made the final decision to commit,” Turner said. “And I committed by giving Coach Larry Fedora a call and then shot out a tweet.”

Turner tweeted “Blessed to say that I have committed to the University of North Carolina.”

The standout tight end picked up and offer from UNC while on campus during his spring visit, and didn’t forget the feeling of excitement that it brought him.

“We walked out to practice after getting a tour of the campus and coach Fedora came up to me as we were standing on the 50-yard line and asked ‘What color is the sky,” and I said ‘Blue’ and he said ‘It’s Carolina Blue, the next thing closest to heaven.’ He then told me that they wanted to offer me a scholarship. And that is kind of how it went down and then I got to watch practice,” Turner said.

When Turner decided to commit — he just continued on with the same theme.

“Coach Fedora said that all he wanted to hear me say was ‘I’m Noah Turner and I’m a Tarheel.’ That’s what he said after I told him I was officially a Tar Heel,” Turner said.

Now, Turner is focused on his senior season and ready to get going on the gridiron.

“I am looking forward to just focusing on my team and season even more. I am just so excited to say I am a Tarheel,” Turner said.
